Cardiac Pathology: Heart/Lung: Primary pulmonary hypertension

A 1961 autopsy specimen from a 44 year old woman who was first admitted to Guy's four years before her death. Pulmonary hypertension was diagnosed and it was thought possible that she had an atrial septal defect and possibly thrombosis of the pulmonary veins. She developed progressive right-sided heart failure with recurring bouts of anoxic collapse.
