CNS Pathology: Brain: Cerebral atherosclerosis: Lacuna infarcts

A 1957 autopsy specimen from a middle aged man who had noticed seven years progressive loss of concentration and repeated short episodes of loss of consciousness. His blood pressure was 250/150. One year previously he had developed a left hemiplegia with spasticity and an extensor plantar response. He died subsequently in renal failure.
