A 1942 autopsy specimen from a 59 year old woman who had maintained a prostitute's business from a railway embankment hut for nearly twenty years. She had been in poor health for some months before falling seriously ill. Her legs became weak and she could not stand. She lay in bed for six days, eating little. She refused medical attention, her death being reported to the police by the man who was living with her at that time.
