Hepato-biliary Pathology: Acute Haemorrhagic Pancreatitis

A 1912 autopsy specimen from a 73 year old man who presented with acute abdominal pain of four days duration, accompanied by vomiting. He gradually deteriorated, dying two days later. At autopsy there was localised fat necrosis of the omentum directly above the pancreas, but no peritonitis. The gall bladder was full of small cholesterol stones.
