A pot showing one half of a resected left lung showing multiple small foci of tuberculous caseation with developing cavitation in the left upper lobe and bronchogenic spread to the lower lobe. From an 18 year old male admitted to hospital with a history of dry cough, haemoptysis and night sweats. A left pneumonectomy was performed followed by thoracoplasty and treatment with Streptomycin and PAS. Three years later he was described as fit and well. His father was known to have had TB.
